For this project, my client needed me to take his existing logo, and “clean it up” along with updating stationary designs. The old logo (created by a different designer) lacked geometrical balance. The original designer used typeface Gotham Black which I decided to stick with, as I thought the bold and straightforward type was a great choice for a law firm. The characters in the monogram did not resemble the characters in the word mark. The monogram looked as though it was drawn intuitively. This created a dissonance within the design. When recreating the monogram I manipulated Gotham Black’s J & P to preserve the integrity of the typeface and trust the expertise of the typographer who created the font family.
